Drills and techniques are taught in a fluid, non-restrictive manner that allow students to enhance their natural attributes and improve their sense of timing, speed, awareness, balance, agility, and confidence.
The training develops and heightens student’s awareness of their surroundings and teaches them to use their environment as tools of combat. Everyday objects, such as umbrellas, books, bandannas, etc., become effective means of self-defense in the hands of a properly trained individual.
The Filipino Martial Arts taught at ICS Academy are drawn from Armas de Mano Eskrima, Inosanto-Lacoste Kali, and ComTech Eskrima.

BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling-based martial art whose central theme is the skill of controlling a resisting opponent in ways that force him to submit. Due to the fact that control is generally easier on the ground than in a standing position, much of the technique of BJJ is centered round the skill of taking an opponent down to the ground and wrestling for dominant control positions from where the opponent can be rendered harmless.

At ICS Academy, we teach the Carlos Machado BJJ methodology. As a champion competitor and a skilled instructor, Carlos Machado has developed a program of instruction in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) that enables the student to execute, with ease and confidence the techniques and combinations of close-quarter submission and control.
