The Filipino Martial Arts is a highly sophisticated and comprehensive system from the Philippines.

The areas of this program introduces students to 12 main areas, including, but not limited to single stick, double stick, stick & dagger, double dagger, Panatukan (Filipino boxing), Sikaran (Filipino kicking methods), Kuntao & Silat.
Drills and techniques are taught in a fluid, non-restrictive manner that allow students to enhance their natural attributes and improve their sense of timing, speed, awareness, balance, agility, and confidence.
The training develops and heightens student’s awareness of their surroundings and teaches them to use their environment as tools of combat. Everyday objects, such as umbrellas, books, bandannas, etc., become effective means of self-defense in the hands of a properly trained individual.
The Filipino Martial Arts taught at ICS Academy are drawn from Armas de Mano Eskrima, Inosanto-Lacoste Kali, and ComTech Eskrima.

The Jeet Kune Do classes at ICS Academy are devoted entirely to teaching and preserving the arts & philosophies of the late Bruce Lee.

This martial art system and fighting strategy is quick, effective, and limitless.
Emphasizing the “ranges of combat,” students are taught to confidently and with ease “flow” from long distance (“kicking-range”) to middle distance (“hand-range”) to close quarters (“trapping & grappling range”).

JKD affords the practitioner a means by which to effectively pursue the most direct line of attack. And once an attack has been launched there are no breaks or interruptions.

Innovative and radically ahead of his time in his training and teaching methodology, Bruce Lee developed a martial system and fighting strategy that has lost none of its effectiveness over time. The movements are crisp, and efficient, utilizing the most direct lines and angles.

Students are able to enhance their natural attributes, such as coordination, timing, speed, endurance, strength and agility, using the innovative teaching and training methods developed by Bruce Lee.

About Jerry Poteet's Jeet Kune Do

Jerry Poteet's Jeet Kune Do™ led by Sifu Fran Joseph, is an association of Sifu Jerry Poteet's students, certified instructors, martial artists, and friends with a passion for the martial art and philosophies of Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do.
Often referred to as “Keeper of the Flame” and “The Conscience of Jeet Kune Do”, Jerry Poteet spent his life living and teaching Jeet Kune Do to a new generation of students. In the late 60's, Sifu Jerry Poteet was fortunate enough to be chosen as the second student admitted to Bruce Lee’s Chinatown School back in LA. He was also selected to be in a “closed door” group of five students, who trained with Bruce Lee twice a week. “Philosophy In Motion®”, Jerry Poteet was one of Bruce Lee’s first students, privately trained at Bruce Lee’s home and in Chinatown, Los Angeles with an small elite group.

Jerry Poteet represented a living yin yang – hard and soft. His energy and power were distinctive while his compassion and gentleness were endless. With the spirit of a philosopher and the force of unmistakable power, he not only taught Jeet Kune Do as Bruce Lee taught it to him; he shared experiences and wisdom to teach strategy, compassion, efficiency, power, self-awareness, and to live a life unfettered. Through his unique stories and creative analogies, Jerry Poteet simplified the art and life itself for each student.

While many knew of Jerry Poteet’s work through film and choreography, including “Dragon, the Bruce Lee Story”, where he and his wife Sifu Fran Poteet-Joseph trained Jason Scott Lee, his greatest gifts were to those who knew him personally.
